Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate on today’s Eid al-Adha, and a happy Juneteenth in advance of Wednesday’s national holiday. If you’re looking for a way to celebrate Juneteenth this year, Parker Yamasaki gave us a roundup of several events going on around the state in Thursday’s Sunriser.

The call for a national monument designation around the Dolores River has inflamed passions in southwestern Colorado, Jason Blevins writes. Opponents fear a national monument along the Dolores River would curtail access and draw crowds. Supporters say increased protection would help manage impacts to remote canyons. U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet spent several days in the area last week, culminating in a 500-person meeting in the new K-12 school in Nucla to discuss the issue.
