Good morning, Colorado.
I’m going to have to keep this intro short. Simply put, it’s street sweeping day in my neighborhood and I have to run out and move my car so I don’t get my third street sweeping ticket of the year.
So in a new mission I’m calling “Operation Prevent Danika From Getting Another Ticket,” we’re all going to just pretend I told a whimsical little joke, let out a small chuckle and then skip down a section so you can get to the news right away and I can save $50.

Colorado’s growing approach to solving chronic homelessness: Permanent housing with few rules

In 2017, Sanderson Apartments welcomed its first residents and became a national model for solving homelessness: permanent supportive housing for people who are homeless with no strings attached. It still has a waitlist. Now, a second complex is opening next week with a third already in the works. The goal of these projects is to not just change lives, but to also save public money. Jennifer Brown takes a look.

Colorado Springs opens new LGBTQ community center nearly 18 months after Club Q shooting

On Nov. 19, 2022, a gunman killed five people at Club Q, a popular LGBTQ bar in Colorado Springs. A year and a half later, a new central hub — Prism Community Collective — is opening.
The community space intends to work to build a sense of belonging, and to reflect the open-ended needs of people who survived the shooting and others in the LGBTQ community. Olivia Prentzel checked out the space.

The Indian Citizenship Act marks its 100th anniversary. What does that mean to tribes in Colorado?

On June 2, 1924, Congress enacted the Indian Citizenship Act, a one-page document that granted citizenship to all Native Americans. One hundred years later, tribes in Colorado weren’t actually celebrating. That history, tribal members told Shannon Mullane, is complicated.
