One person was killed Tuesday afternoon when a small plane crashed as it was taking off from Centennial Airport.
The plane crashed in an open field on the 14200 block of Grasslands Drive. South Metro Fire Rescue said the person killed in the crash was the only person aboard the plane.
Centennial Airport said the plane was taking off when it crashed. “No further details are available at this time,” the tweet said.
The National Transportation Safety Board identified the plane as a single-engine Cessna 182Q, and said it is investigating the crash.
The deadly plane crash is one of several in recent months near airports in the Denver metro area. Two separate plane crashes in May near Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield left three people dead.
