Two people died after a short police chase Tuesday in Brighton, authorities said.

The incident began shortly before 11:30 a.m. near Gaviota and Goldfinch streets, where police were dispatched on a report of a suspicious vehicle. 

According to a police, the first of two officers to arrive at the scene learned the suspicious vehicle had been stolen.

A suspect driving the stolen vehicle — 25-year-old Nicholas Vilarina –rammed one of the officer’s vehicles and then sped away when police tried to stop the car, authorities said.

At Bridge and Mount Bierstadt streets, Vilarina allegedy ran a stop sign and struck another vehicle.  A female passenger in vehicle that was struck was ejected from the car and later died.

The stolen car continued on Mount Bierstadt Street, where Vilarina allegedly lost control and struck a male pedestrian, police said.  The pedestrian also died.
