FORT COLLINS — The largest wildfire in Colorado history has been fully contained by authorities after burning for about four months, fire officials said.
Cameron Peak Fire officials made the announcement Wednesday in a statement, The Coloradoan reported. The fire burned about 310 square miles (810 square kilometers) over 112 days.
“Crews will remain working on the fire to continue repair and rehabilitation,” officials said in the statement.
The fire started Aug. 13 in the Roosevelt National Forest between Cameron Peak and the Chambers Lake Campground, destroying 461 structures, including 42 primary residences and 17 businesses, authorities said.
Several firefighters reported minor injuries during the fire, mostly from heat exhaustion. No one died in the fire.
