Dear Colorado Sun supporters,
I’m a new politics and policy reporter at The Sun, where I’ll be covering elected officials, campaigns and how policy affects people. I’m delighted to be here.
A few things you should know about me: I grew up in Colorado and therefore root for the Buffs, can find my way down a ski slope and went to Casa Bonita before it was cool (or when it was cool). I have a seven-year-old rescue pup named Bella and enjoy walking, e-biking and taking public transit (shoutout to RTD’s #0 bus).
Most recently, I was a fellow at the University of Colorado’s Center for Environmental Journalism. Before that, I was a reporter at The Boston Globe covering transportation. I’ve been a journalist for 13 years and have also written about tourism for The Miami Herald and immigration for Vice News.
My work has exposed dark money schemes behind political mailers, uncovered egregious construction errors on Boston’s only subway expansion in the last 30 years, and spurred a WhatsApp newsletter for cruise ship workers who were being misled by their employers during the pandemic. I’ve received the 2021 Journalist of the Year from the Society of Professional Journalists Florida, the 2021 Esserman-Knight Journalism Award and the 2020 Frances DeVore Award for Public Service from the Florida Press Club. I’m fluent in Spanish.
I care deeply about our state and am looking forward to bringing you accountability journalism you can rely on. I’d love to hear from you about what needs digging into.
