Austin is the Water Efficiency lead of Denver Water’s Efficiency group. This group promotes using water efficiently and advocates for alternative sources when possible.

Austin has worked extensively to build on Denver Water’s “Use only what you need” campaign by benchmarking customers to help communicate what responsible water use looks like in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.

He served on the Green Roof’s Review Task Force as it transitioned to the Green Building Ordinance. He has also served on the Denver Green Code committee implementing sustainable building codes and ordinances with the City and County of Denver. Additionally, he reviews polices and building codes to see how One Water Strategies can make the Denver Water potable water system more efficient.

Austin has a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management and a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning.
