A Boulder man was killed Sunday in a late-night fire at a senior living complex, fire officials said in a news release.
Crews responded at 11:57 p.m. to the facility in the 4800 block of Baseline Road, according to Boulder Fire-Rescue.
Fire crews found the victim inside and brought him outside, where he was pronounced dead despite life-saving measures, the news release said. The flames were confined to a single unit that sustained fire, smoke and water damage.
Neighboring apartments had some smoke and water damage, but no other injuries were reported. About 12 people were forced to evacuate and later were able to return to their homes, authorities said.
Fire investigators ruled out foul play, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“Our firefighters and first responders performed well last night — responding quickly and attentively to the fire scene,” Michael Calderazzo, Boulder Fire-Rescue Chief, said in a written statement. “It is never an easy thing to lose a member of the community, our thoughts are with those involved.”
