May C. Chu, Ph.D. is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Colorado School of Public Health and a Senior Investigator in the Center for Global Health (CGH). As of February 2023, she has been serving as the Interim Director of the CGH.

Dr. Chu is a senior advisor to the World Health Organization Committee for Infection Prevention and for Personal Protective Equipment for protecting health workers at the front line.

Dr. Chu received her PhD from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, John Burns School of Medicine, focusing on Tropical Medicine and Medical Microbiology. Dr. Chu’s career includes 30 years at the U.S. CDC. During her time at CDC, she was detailed to the WHO for global outbreak response and to the White House as the Assistant Director for Public Health during 2014-2016 and led the President’s Task Force for Response of the West Africa Ebola epidemic.
