Dr. Mark Zabel is a professor of microbiology, immunology and pathology at Colorado State University and the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. His research program focuses on the interaction of prions with cells and receptors of the immune system and lymphoid tissues in early entry, trafficking, and pathogenesis phases of prion infections. His research has been published several times.

He has earned his PhD from the University of Utah, his Masters of Science from Southern Illinois University and his Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University of Chicago.
