Remember when a library’s search engine was its card catalog? A lot has changed since then — from the materials to the technology to the scope of libraries’ very mission. Sun writer and book editor Kevin Simpson moderates a panel of experts for a conversation about the changes — and challenges — to a venerable American institution.

Sherri Baca was named executive director of the Pueblo City-County Library District in 2022, after having served seven years with the district, including as associate executive director. Prior to that she served as the district’s chief financial officer and human resources manager, as well as a library trustee. Baca earned her master’s degree in library science from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from Colorado State University Pueblo. She is the first Hispanic woman to lead the library district.
