Heather Sackett is an environmental journalist based on the Western Slope. She has covered the Colorado River and its tributaries since 2019 as the managing editor and Water Desk reporter at the online, nonprofit Aspen Journalism. She has a background in local news and has also reported for the Littleton Independent, The Denver Post, KOTO News and the Telluride Daily Planet. Heather has a master’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder’s Center for Environmental Journalism and her reporting has been recognized by the Colorado Press Association and the Society of Professional Journalists.
