Wolf Creek Ski area in southwest Colorado is planning to kick of the state’s 2021-22 ski season this weekend.

The resort said it will be open Saturday and Sunday. The beginner Nova Lift and the Lynx Lift will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Wolf Creek will then reopen weekends until Mother Nature comes again,” the ski area’s website says.

Ski resorts across the state have begun making snow in preparation for their opening days.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area announced Thursday that it will open for the season Sunday. The Black Mountain Express lift will open at 8:30 a.m. and serve the High Noon intermediate run.

A winter storm slammed the high country this week, dropping several inches of snow in many areas. Wolf Creek received more than a foot of snow.
