Brian Metzler
Brian Metzler is a Colorado-based writer, photographer and video field producer who has specialized in chronicling endurance sports and mountain sports since the mid-1990s.
He is the founding editor of Trail Runner magazine and the author of several books, including “Kicksology: The Hype, Science, Culture and Cool of Running Shoes” (2019) and “Trail Running Illustrated: The Art of Running Free” (2021). His work has appeared in dozens of outlets, including Sports Illustrated, Outside, Trail Runner, Men’s Journal, Runner’s World, The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post and The Colorado Sun.
He has hiked to the summit of 40 of Colorado’s 58 14,000-foot peaks, run 15 marathons and several 100-mile trail runs, completed four Ironman triathlons and has been involved in the quirky Colorado sport of pack burro racing for more than two decades.
