“What’d I Miss?”

The strip, which runs weekly in The Sun, reflects Colorado life and issues through the interactions of a young African-American man and his neighbor, a middle-aged white woman who has recently emerged from a 30-year coma. Their friendship and interaction make for situations both pointed and poignant, often infused with a sly sense of humor.
R. Alan Brooks writes educational children’s comic books for the nonprofit Pop Culture Classroom and is also the writer/creator of “The Burning Metronome” graphic novel, a supernatural murder mystery with social commentary. In addition, Alan is a musician and hosts the popular “MotherF**ker In A Cape” comics podcast, which focuses on marginalized members of the geek world.
Cori Redford is a versatile, Denver-based artist who most recently has channeled her talents to zines and children’s books. She hangs out with a bunch of groovy art kids, who battle with drawings instead of guns or dance like regular gangs.
Drew Litton has been a celebrated cartoonist in Denver and on the national stage for four decades, gaining recognition first for his funny and incisive sports cartoons, “Win, Lose & Drew,” which he pioneered with the Rocky Mountain News and continues to produce for 9News and other outlets. He expanded his repertoire to encompass a wide range of topics. Drew currently resides in the Denver area with a fairly extensive collection of cartoon bobbleheads and his caffeinated schnauzer, Finnegan. His cartoons appear in The Sun every other week.
Jim Morrissey, a Colorado native, has been a syndicated cartoonist and illustrator for various newspapers and magazines, and freelance editorial cartoonist for more than 20 years. His cartoons have earned him acclaim from the Colorado Press Association. His editorial cartoons appear in the Sun every other week.
“Limn”

Limn — lim/ verb 1. Depict or describe in painting or words. 2. Suffuse or highlight (something) with a bright color or light. The strip will convey Allen’s civic-minded ideas through an idiosyncratic perspective, with informative and stylish drawings highlighting the issues affecting Coloradans today. His work will appear in the Sun monthly.
For the past eight years, Lonnie Allen has been the organizer of Denver Drink and Draw, a weekly gathering of comics artists. His work has appeared in Image Comics and Dark Horse Comics. He has been nominated for a prestigious Eisner Award, won a DiNKy for Outstanding Work by a Colorado Creator and was named one of the 100 Colorado Creatives by Westword. He’s currently the art director for Suspect Press.
